Chapter #11Wanting to contribute by: darkjak45 Quick note: I want to apologize if the first part of my last addition looks like it never ends. I copied and pasted from word and Writing didn't add the spaces i had. Hopeful this one will be easier to read for you. :)
Ugh…. You said as you woke up. Your slowly take in your surroundings as the sun light shines on you. You try to move, but can’t. Oh, yeah. You said. You rub Rey’s check until she wakes up. Morning already? She said as she sits up. She moves her hand in front of her. You slept well? She said. Yeah. No nightmare this time. You said. So you finally found your voice after i took it. She said. Well, I still had it. I just forgot how to form words. So what are we doing today? You said. I wanted you to decide. She said. Me? You said. It wouldn’t be fair if we only did what I wanted. She said. Alright then. I want to try my hands at scavenging. You said. You sure? Your arm isn’t fully healed. She said. We’re living together, so I might as well contribute somehow. I don’t want to seem like a parasite. You said. Who told you that? She said. Well….. After all you’ve done for me, I can return the favor somehow. No good deed goes unpunished. You said. Rey starts to rub your head. Listen, I don’t mind taking care of you. I don’t know where you got parasite from, but you’re not. You’re my friend. Not parasite. Friend. She said. I know, but it doesn’t sit well with me that you’re going out of your way for me and not getting anything. You said. I don’t want anything from you except your good health. We’ll go scavenging, but don’t think you have to pay me back. She said. Rey gets up and dresses in her scavenger outfit and drives to an Imperial star destroyer.
Ok. This area should have something of value. She said. X wings, Tie fighters, Interceptors, bombers, and a Star destroyer. We’re bound to find something. You said. You’re still new at this. So the star destroyer is out of the question. Rey said. Ok. Baby steps. Start small and work up from there. You said. Rey heads to a Tie fighter with a missing wing. Ok. I’ll take care of the outside of the ship. Can you pull out some wires from the inside for me? She said. You got it. You said. Rey puts you inside the fighter and you see most wires are fried. You pull out some wires and drag them to the opening. That’s all? She said. Most of them were fried in the crash. You said. It’ll work. She said as you walk onto her hand. Let’s try something a bit more complex. She said. Rey takes you to an X wing and sets you inside one of the engines. Ok. Go through here and disconnect the engines from their circuits. I’ll take care of the rest after that. She said. Give me a few minutes. You said. You head into the engine and come to the inner workings of the wing. Hm…. I think these red wires are it. You said. You pull out a few of them and you see one of the engines come out. You pull out more of them and Rey pops out all four of the engines. You jump down onto the soft sand. Banged up a little, but they run. Nice work in there. She said. For a few hours, you and Rey scavenge any good parts you both can find.
So how am I doing? You said as Rey sits on the ground. Pretty good. You don’t let your size slow you down or a hurt arm. How’d you turn on that Tie fighter? She said. I crossed a few wires. Tuned off the weapons for extra engine power and on came the engines. She said. Got the engine working, dislodged the weapons, and took out a astro droid. You sure you haven’t done this before? She said. First time. You said. She takes a drink of water and pours you some. You take a sip. We’ve been out here for hours. You think we have enough? You said. More than. Any more and my speeder won’t move. She said. Call it an early day? You said. Yeah. She said. Rey gets up and drives her speeder to the outpost. Rey unloads all her stuff. You know the drill. She said. Out of sight. You said. Rey tucks you away in her cleavage before she starts selling. You hear Rey engage in multiple conversations and wonder what her clientele are like. You climb up and stick your head out. As you’re getting a good look, you are pushed back down. I take that as a no. You said.
Within a couple of hours, all of Rey’s salvage is gone. She makes sure no one is looking and pulls you out. Why were you trying to get out? She said. I wasn’t trying to get out. I wanted to see what kind of people you sell to. You said. Yeah. Having your head stick out from between my chest while I do business is a good idea. She said. Was I that noticeable? You said. You’re lucky I felt you moving or someone would have saw you. She said. Well, how did we- I mean you, do? You said. You had it right the first time. And we made 435 in credits. She said. That much?! Are you asking for an arm and leg too? You said. No. I don’t overcharge people. Just a lot of people come to me. And I have what they want. She said. Well, a good day of business calls for a celebration. You said. I think you’re right. She said. Rey heads into the cantina and sits at an open table. Think you can get past two this time? She said. Just wait. I know what I’m up against now. You said. Rey orders her drink and downs it in one go. Show off. You said. You and Rey both drink and joke with each other until you call quits after 4. Wow. Two more than last time. She said. Just….*hic* wait till I get a tolerance*hic* like you. You’ll be the one seeing triple. You said. I’m actually surprised you can drink a normal glass size at your size. She said. Maybe…..I still eat and drink the same amount as normal sized person. *hic*. You said. Right. I’ll pay off the bartender. You try and not stumble off the table. She said. Don’t worry your pretty self about me. You go and *hic* take care of stuff. You said. Pretty. I wonder if that’s him or the drinks talking. Rey said with a blushed face. Rey gets up to pay the bartender.
While she’s gone, a cloaked figure approaches the table. So I was right. I knew I saw that girl talking to a tiny person earlier. They said. And? You never seen a *hic* thumb sized person before? You said. No. I haven’t. Which is why you’re coming with me. She said. They reach for you and pick you up. From the softness of the hand, you can tell it’s a human lady. Hey, lady. I’m not going anywhere with you. You said. I don’t think you’re in a position to argue. Whether drunk or sober, you are coming with me. And I think your friend is better off without you. She said. She stuffs you in her robe’s pocket and walks out of the cantina.
Alright. I’ve paid. Let’s get- Tyne? Rey said. She doesn’t see you on the table. D….Did he? No. Even in a stupor, he’s not crazy. She said. Rey heads outside and sees you’re not in the speeder. No…. He couldn’t have been…. She said. With her teeth gritted and a one hand clenched into a fist, Rey grabs her staff. Tyne….. Just hang on. I’m coming for you. She said. Holstering her weapon, Rey runs through crowds of people to find you. indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
