"Dinner's still three hours off, Mom. I'll be back in less than one."
He had been en route to Alphys' lab, but this phone call was drawing out the visit by quite a lot. Frisk was dawdling by the edge of Alphys and Undyne's property, hoping that his adoptive mother, the Underground's former queen Toriel, would be satisfied with his promises sooner, rather than later.
The monsters had been free for nearly eight years now, but time had not made Toriel any less likely to worry over her son's well-being.
"Yes." he said for what felt like the tenth time. "And yes, I'll call you on the way home, too."
At last, Toriel sounded ready to let him go. "OK, talk to you then, Mom. Love you, too."
-beep-
Frisk made an impatient noise as he at last approached the large building that served as both Alphys' lab and a house which she shared with her long-time girlfriend, Undyne. He knew that his phone's signal would meet some interference once he went inside, so he'd chosen to wait on entering, but he hadn't expected Toriel to speak for so long.
At this rate, Frisk was half-expecting Undyne to arrive before he could even get in. Not to say that he didn't want to see Undyne as well, but talking to Alphys was the priority, and Undyne's presence would make that harder.

Frisk had come a long way from the eleven year-old orphan boy who took an unexpected fall on Mt. Ebott. He'd freed the monsters -- after a few RESETs and a whole lot of unfortunate deaths -- and helped his new friends rejoin society on the surface, where they'd lived happily for years now.
Frisk himself was eighteen now, soon-to-be nineteen. He was looking into plans for his future, but he sometimes wondered whether Toriel would ever actually let him leave their home.

The lab was filled with its usual hum of electrical equipment. Alphys was making quite a name for herself on the surface as the leading mind in human-monster science.
"Alphys?" Frisk called out over the noise. He heard no reply. He walked toward the doorway leading into the "house" section of the building and stuck his head through.
"Alphys...?"
Still nothing. Frisk sighed. Alphys had left the door unlocked, which made him hopeful that she'd be easy to find. He could wait until Undyne got here from her work day at the school. She'd know where her girlfriend was.
Frisk turned, and something caught his eye.
A new machine was sitting near Alphys' main work area. It was your standard giant science ray, it appeared. He wondered what it did, approaching.
He was barely within the machine's immediate area when it suddenly made a very loud noise like it was powering up.
"Uhh..."
Frisk didn't have time to consider moving back before the machine gave off another very loud sound and a beam of silver light burst from its front side.

Frisk blinked rapidly, a hand in front of his face as he tried to regain his senses. His vision slowly cleared.

You have the following choices:

1. Everything seems fine. (Frisk is slowly shrinking.)

2. The machine caused Frisk to shrink to a tiny size.
