Steve eventually decided to seek out his lab assistant since she was already familiar with the project. They'd worked together side-by-side for countless hours on the prototype and there was no question she'd be just as ecstatic as he was to move onto human trials. That was the end goal after all, working out the kinks and perfecting the technology.
With a smile on his face, the doctor took out his phone and scrolled through his contacts until he found her number. Immediately he was greeted by a picture of a young blonde that was dressed as Harley Quinn from last year's Halloween party. Ironically enough he'd been the Joker that night. Their costumes choices hadn't even planned.
The phone rang a couple of times before she finally answered. "Hello?"
"Salutations." He responded. "I was just calling to see if you're still on campus."
"I am." Beth replied. "Why? Did something happen with the portable shrink ray?"
Steve couldn't help but chuckle. "No, nothing like that. I just think it's time is all."
Beth gasped. "You don't mean..."
"That's right, Beth. I think it's time we moved on to human trials." The doctor confirmed.
There was a small pause before the blonde spoke again. "That's great! Are you on campus?"
"That I am." Steve revealed. "Are you in the lab or somewhere else?"
"I'm in the lab."
That was wonderful news to the doctor. "Excellent. I should be there in about five minutes."
There was another pause. "Great! See you in five!"
And with that the call ended, and Steve pocketed his phone. In about five minutes he would rendezvous with his assistant and begin the final stages of testing for the project. He'd just have to make sure Beth's father didn't catch wind of anything otherwise he would never hear the end of it.
Steve continued to walk with a smile on his face and a pep in his step. "Today is going to be a good day. I can just feel it."
