To your dismay, the cub growls and shakes her head, then gently sets you down on the ground. She steps over you, moving towards the new Pokemon.
“What are you doing?” you shout. “Get back here! We need to run!”
Your starter ignores you. She raises her claws, stomps the ground, and roars at Nidorina. It was supposed to be intimidating, but it sounds utterly adorable, and you can’t help but grin. However, Nidorina replies with a much louder and more frightening roar, making both you and your Pokemon step back in fear.
Nidorina takes advantage of this distraction to charge. You run to the side to get away from the impending fight, while your starter stays in place and tries to guard herself. Unfortunately, the attack is too powerful. She’s headbutted and thrown into the air, landing heavily a short distance away. Nidorina then uses Poison Sting to launch needles at her. The cub cries out in pain and tries to get back up. Meanwhile, Nidorina looks at Nidoran and points at Teddiursa. Nidoran nods, then rushes in and tackles the helpless Teddiursa, who continues to struggle and cry out.
You can’t bear to watch any more. You need to help your friend! You rush towards the fight, even though it’s surely a crazy thing to do, considering you’re so much smaller than either combatant.
You don’t get far, though. You feel the ground shake, and before you know it, a huge blue paw has descended on you. Three stubby fingers, each tipped with a sharp claw, wrap around you in a vice-like grip. You scream and squirm uselessly as you’re picked up and brought to the face of Nidorina. Her huge red eyes stare into your soul, and you freeze in terror.
Meanwhile, Teddiursa is still getting attacked by Nidoran. Nidorina looks over and watches with a satisfied expression as her little sister gets her revenge. Now that her intimidating gaze is elsewhere, you regain your composure and try to squirm out of her grip, but it’s no use. You soon give up, and simply watch as your starter is tackled repeatedly. It’s heartbreaking, especially because there’s nothing you can do to help. The best you can do is try to encourage her.
“Teddiursa!” you shout. “Please don’t give up! Fight back! I believe in you! You can—augh!”
You cry out as Nidorina squeezes you painfully, forcing you to be quiet. You fall silent and continue to watch the fight. Hopefully Teddiursa received some encouragement from your words, and gets the second wind required to fight off her attacker.
