The sun hung low over the Digital World, casting long shadows through the dense trees of the Forest of Illusions. Gabumon and Matt navigated the labyrinth, keeping an eye out for trouble as they make their way through. Izzy had sent them here on a mission, as there were some strange readings that suggested trouble in the area. The pair were no strangers for solo traveling, having spent plenty of time in the digital world without the other digi-destined. Besides this was basically just a scouting mission, no need to get the entire team involved if it turned out to be something mundane... well, as mundane as the digital world could be considered.
"It seems peaceful enough" said Gabumon looking around at the scenery. "Yeah, usually does until something decides to jump out at you." replied Matt, though he had to admit the forest was looking pretty peaceful. Unknown to them, a shadowy figure was watching, unseen, chuckling to itself before moving on. Gabumon suddenly sniffed the air. "Hey, do you smell that?" he asked, turning his head as he tried to located the direction of the smell. Mat smelled, but got nothing, his human senses nowhere as keen as his partner. "No, unless your smelling trees and moss." he said, watching Gabumon to see where his nose lead him. "Something smells yummy." said Gabumon, stepping forward as he tracked the scent. Matt gave a sigh, "Well, better then standing around waiting for something to happen I guess. Lead on pal."
Gabumon moved, his pace quickening as he began focusing in of the source of the smell. Drawing closer, it became easier to detect and he was soon moving at a slow job with Matt tailing him through the bushes and trees. Finally the two came to a clearing where they find...
