A short time later Jason leaned back in his chair with a groan. He pressed one hand against his middle and stifled a burp with the other. "I think I-hurp-ate too much," he grunted, stifling another burp. He'd eaten six slices of the "personal" pizza: a full three quarters of the pie. His gut was taut; pressing against his size medium size shirt in a modest bulge that wouldn't have been noticeable on a fatter man, but was all-too-visible on Jason's lean, muscled frame.
"Finished already?" Toshi asked in surprise. He'd already finished his chicken alfredo and spaghetti and meatballs, and was now gobbling up the carbonara at a rapid pace. His shirt, already strained, was looking even more stressed: more white gaps were appearing in the spaces between the upper buttons to match the lower ones that were already present. "You've got two pieces left!"
"I'm too full. Oof," Jason grunted. He'd intended to stop at three, but the pizza really was good. The best he'd ever had in fact. Ultimately, he'd decided one indulgent meal wasn't going to ruin his diet, but he wasn't looking forward to the extra 2 miles he was going to have to run to keep this off. 'And you're skipping dinner,' he told himself firmly. The curse weighed heavily on the back of his mind, and he was definitely not going to let himself fall prey to it.
'Toshi doesn't seem to mind it, though," he thought, watching his partner eat. For someone who didn't even believe in the curse, Toshi was a picture-perfect example of. Although a good three inches taller than Jason, the extra height wasn't anywhere near enough to offset Toshi's extra weight. He had over 200 pounds on Jason's 195 pound frame and it showed. He was only five years older than Jason, but over twice his size. It was unreal. 'That'll never happen to me,' he told himself.
"Slide it on over here." Toshi said, jolting Jason out of his reverie.
"What?" He asked, blinking in surprise. He couldn't have heard that right.
"Pass it over," Toshi repeated, gesturing from the pizza towards himself. The plates of his three meals had been pushed aside, each of them completely empty. Toshi had even used the two rolls that had come with the spaghetti to mop up every drop of sauce, leaving them virtually spotless. "No sense letting it go to waste," the bigger man continued. "I've got some space left."
Staring, Jason slowly pushed the pizza tray towards Toshi's side of the table. His partner promptly picked up both slices, slapped them on top of each other and chomped.
"Fis is sho guhd," he said through his mouthful of pizza, cheeks bulging from the size of the bite. In no time at all he'd scarfed down both slices and the table was completely clean; not a speck of food in sight. Toshi leaned back in his chair and let out a hearty burp, chuckling as he patted his bulging gut. "There you go, big guy." He told his stomach. "Nice and full now, huh buddy?"
'He's talking to his belly like it's a separate person," Jason thought a little incredulously. 'Guess it's big enough to be one.' Again he winced once he realized how mean that sounded, and was thankful for his brain-to-mouth filter. Before either man could say anything else, the door to the room opened and Antonio entered.
"Ah, Toshi, you cleaned my plates again!" The Italian gentleman cried, crossing the room and placing a platonic kiss on Toshi's cheek. "And 'Little Toshi,' he is satisfied as well? The man asked, giving Toshi's middle a vigorous rub.
"Definitely," Toshi said, patting his belly. "He always is."
"Magnifica! And your skinny friend?" Antonio turned to look at Jason, his expression impressed. "Are you satisfied, Mr..."
"Jason," he answered once he realized the man was waiting for a name. "Jason Takahashi. And the pizza was great. A little too great," he grunted, massaging his middle again.
"No such thing," Toshi and Antonio said together. Then Antonio grinned. "Wait right here, I'll be back!" He said, racing from the room. He returned a moment later carrying two plates. Each of them had a cannoli at least a foot long on it, literally bursting with dough and cheese. "A complimentary dessert for my favorite customer and his new friend!" He set a plate in front of each, giving Toshi's belly another friendly rub.
"Oh, Antonio, you spoil me!" Toshi said with a grin. To Jason he said "You're gonna love Antonio's cannolis. I think they're responsible for at least 50 of the pounds I've put on." He put his hands on either side of his heavy belly and gave it a hefty shake. It still jiggled despite the large amount of food he'd stuffed into it. "I think he's fattening me up to eat me," He said in a low tone, winking at Antonio to show he was joking. The older man only laughed.
"Oh, Toshi, you always make me laugh." He gave Toshi's belly one last pat, and then heading out back into the main restaurant, calling over his shoulder for them to enjoy their desserts.
