After the Bandicoots’ adventures with time and universe travel, Coco Bandicoot did some reverse engineering on what she could salvage from the ruins of the Time Twister and the Rift Generator. With Kupuna-Wa the Quantum Mask of Time’s permission, she created a new time machine for the sole purpose of exploration rather than the domination Dr. Nefarious Tropy intended. Together with her girlfriend Yaya Panda, the two decided to take a quick trip to prehistoric times as part of a test run of the machine’s capabilities.
“Wow! Look at all the plants!” Yaya had never been time traveling, so she bounced around the ancient forest, excited to see the flora of the past. However, the flora was excited to see her. “Eek!” A fly trap snapped at her, but she kicked its head off. Another plant tried the same thing and met the same fate from Coco’s foot.
“I know you’re excited, Yaya, but watch out, because these plants and I have something in common,” Coco said. “We all think you’re sweet.” Yaya blushed at this compliment.
“Aww, back at ya, babe! So are we supposed to find a crystal here or something?”
“Nah, just exploring for the most part. The time machine test is looking like a success so far, though.” Coco took out her phone and took a few pictures of the environment, including a selfie with her and Yaya. “So now that we’ve established a foothold here, we can come back to it on a later trip. Soon we’ll be able to map out all of time.”
“Cool! Where should we go next?” Yaya asked, now eager to explore more of the timeline. But Coco didn’t answer. “Uh, Coco? Babe, you okay?”
“Yaya, look…” The bandicoot was awestruck at a massive structure that looked to be composed of metal and crystal. “This is way beyond anything that the creatures here could make. They’re too primitive.”
“You think it’s Tropy?” The panda girl poked the towering structure a few times, attempting to discern its purpose. “Think we should smash it?”
“Probably not until we figure out what it does,” Coco responded. She took out a device to scan it, finding the crystal parts were virtually identical to the crystals they sought in the past. “Looks like a power source of some kind, but for what?” Just then, a large whirring sound came from the crystal, bathing everything around it in a menacing pink light. “Yaya, brace yourself! It’s going to activate!” The girls leapt behind a rock to observe the structure in action as the light and sound grew more intense. It eventually blinded the girls momentarily before stopping and going dormant, leaving behind its effects.
