"I don't know," Clara said, biting her lip. "Chicago's an hour or so away. My parents would freak if we went there."
"Oh, c'mon Clara, be adventureous," Jonathon said, giving her a look she'd never seen him give her before. She looked at him rather closely.
"You don't think I'm adventureous?"
Breda answered for him. "No he doesn't! So let's just go!"
Clara waited a couple of seconds before she responded. " But I don't want to," she explained. "My parents, they just gave me this car for my birthday. They expect me to be responsible with it. Driving out to Chicago -- that's not very responsible." There was no convincing them. Both of their expressions did not change. "Plus, it's my birthday, guys. I should get the right to choose where we go. And even more, it's my car."
"Don't be a wuss," Breda said. "You know you want to go."
"Why don't we drive to a different city?"
"What city could be more exciting than Chicago?" Jonathon said, giving her the same look as before.
