What happens to Alice after i don't help her

"So, will you help me get to Aunt Mary's house?" Alice asked me. "I am sorry, but I can't," I answered, "You are going south. I am going north, and I must be there tomorrow night." Muttering curses, Alice pulled her jacket tighter around her body and started walking. The cold rain fell harder, dripping down her neck. I felt terribly guilty, but there was no way I could take Alice with me. Of course, I would regret making that decision for the rest of my life.

Alice continued to walk in the direction she was going, with the rain pouring down her back and soaking her jacket. After several hours of walking in the rain, she sat down under a tree. Just as she was making herself comfortable, thunder and lightning crashed down, nearly splitting the tree in half. Alice let out a loud shrill scream.
