Robyn could hear the sound of the monster coming closer and closer, still carrying Trevor's battered body in its jaw.
With the growing fear in her mind she looked up just in time to see it leap at her. She had no time to think of Eliza, all she could do was run, run as fast as she could until she could run no more.
Robyn could feel her heart straining in her chest as she pounded down the road. Adrenaline surged through her, forcing her on and on, but she couldn't dare to look around for fear of whatever might still be chasing her. As she ran she began turning her mind back to the things she had seen in Eliza's dying moments; she could see lines of writing in Eliza's inevitably tidy scrawl and images. Maps and drawings of places she didn't think she'd seen before but at the same time she instantly felt connected to them. The writing she could see was mainly across two pages although there were further diagrams interspersed within the text providing additional insights. Sprawled across the top of the first page in bold lettering was the single expression, 'The Truth'.
Questions flooded Robyn's mind and she brought her attention to the text but no sooner than she began to focus on the writing, the sound of a bullet ripped through the air and brought her back to reality and the terrible danger of her situation. She had no idea what to do or who to turn to and all she could hear was gunfire bursting around her. It took Robyn a few moments to realise that the bullets were coming at her from two directions, with surprise she looked up and saw someone in the distance, a small grey gun in their hands and their eyes staring directly at Robyn's.
