The hour was late, but a light was still on at the Burkhart residence. Within her bedroom, Jackie Burkhart was sitting on the edge of her bed. The petite brunette groaned as she forced herself to slug back another mouthful of the cold water. The gallon jug was awkwardly heavy, and she let it clunk back down to the floor, next to the empty one. She hiccuped and examined her stomach.
It was already impressively swollen, jutting out over the waistband of her underwear. She ran a hand delicately over the taut surface, wishing it was bigger. But she didn't think she could drink even one more drop without throwing up. She sighed and lay down on her bed, one hand gently caressing her bloated belly. She knew she'd have to get up and go to the bathroom before she went to sleep, but for now she could enjoy the sensation of the sloshing water in her stomach.

Jackie Burkhart thought of herself as a normal, all American girl. There was nothing 'weird' or 'strange' about her. Except that occasionally, she fantasied about filling herself up with water until she was about to burst. She knew it was weird, but it had been in the back of her mind for as long as she could remember, an obsession with the idea of just growing and growing. She remembered seeing a movie when she was younger, where a girl around her age was blown up like a blueberry. She had made her parents take her to see it a dozen times, fascinated. From that point on, she had often indulged in daydreams where she was expanding or growing. Sometimes it was just her belly, swollen like she was 9 months pregnant with triplets, sometimes it was her whole body, expanding like a water balloon. Sometimes it was against her will, but usually she was an eager and active participant.
She had never told anybody, not her boyfriend, or even her best girl friend. She knew they would just think she was a freak, a sicko, a pervert. So she kept it to herself, quietly imagining or sometimes, like now, acting it out as best she could, though it could never live up to her imagination. No matter how much she wished it was true, it was impossible.
Jackie didn't know it, but high above her head a shooting star was passing by. As she silently wished, it seemed to glint extra bright before vanishing into the darkness.
Back down below, Jackie sighed and made her way to the bathroom. She had school tomorrow, she should probably go to bed.

The next morning, Jackie put her late-night fantasies out of her head, putting them away into a little box so she could get on with her life. She picked out a cute outfit (although all her outfits were cute), and went down for breakfast.
